Fake certificates racket busted in Hyderabad

Hyderabad: North Zone Task Force busted a bogus educational institution styled as ‘Charminar College’ and arrested six persons, including five students who purchased fake certificates at Charminar here on Friday.

The arrested persons were Hasmatullah, director of Charminar College from Meerpet while the students who purchased bogus certificates from him were Syed Adnan Arif, Abdullah Saleem, M.Sandeep, Mohd.Shah Akram Ali and Mohd Kaleemuddin.

According to the Task Force, Hasmatullah set up the bogus college in 2015 and used to publish advertisements in vernacular newspapers apart from distributing pamphlets attracting students promising to facilitate one-sitting degree exams.

He promised educational certificates of distance education universities in the country. “He used to collect between Rs 50,000 to Rs 1 lakh from candidates depending on the course and provided forged educational certificates of various degrees,” police said.

Further investigation revealed that Hasmatullah collected data of the students who approached him for educational certificates and forwarded them to his agents in other States. They would prepare certificates and courier him the same.Following a tip-off, the task force raided the premises and arrested Hasmatullah along with the students who paid him for fake certificate.
