Ambulance scam CBI files charge sheet in 108 ambulance scam

With assembly elections in Rajasthan approaching, the case may well have political ramifications for those involved

CBI has filed first charge sheet in 108 ambulance scam. It was filed against Director as well as then CEO of M/S Ziqitza Healthcare Ltd, Mumbai. An employee of the company has also been charge sheeted.

Ziqitza, once lauded for introducing 108 ambulance services in India, soon got mired in a series of scams that include tailor-made bid documents to facilitate the award of contracts, joint ventures with firms based abroad without taking essential approvals, twisting contracts after these were signed in to take exaggerated payments.

A number of Congress leaders and their children are linked with the company.Sources say that suspects, which include former Rajasthan CM Ashok Gehlot, Sachin Pilot and Karti Chidambaram have not been name in the charge sheet

Congress leader Sachin Pilot has maintained that he had resigned as director of the company much before it was given contract in Rajasthan. He said that he did not take any money or facilities during the few months he was director of the company. He has also written to CBI to conclude the investigations as quickly as possible.

Enforcement Directorate (ED) is also probing the case and has attached company’s assets in Rajasthan worth Rs 12 crore last year.With assembly elections in Rajasthan approaching, the case may well have political ramifications for those involved.
